Nadia Hamzeh, an award winning Director, Writer, Producer and Actress, received her MFA in Film Production (Directing emphasis) from Chapman University in USA, where she was a Fulbright Fellow. Nadia also holds a BFA in Dramatic Arts (Acting emphasis) from the Academy of Performing Arts in Damascus.

In 2016 Nadia got selected as a PGA Power of Diversity Producers Workshop Fellow, for which her feature film project “Country of the Sun” was chosen by the Producers Guild of America in Los Angeles. Her award winning films include ‘Rafi & Naila’, ‘Degenerate’ and ‘Fiasco’ for which Nadia won the acclaimed student Emmy® for Best Comedy from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in Hollywood. ‘Fiasco’, which she wrote, directed, produced and starred in, was shot on 35mm and went on to win 8 more international awards, screened in over 40 international film festivals worldwide, had it’s Middle East Premiere at the 2010 Doha Tribeca Film Festival and the US Television Premiere in 2013 on KCET Television in California.

While still a student and prior moving to the US, Nadia rapidly established a successful acting career in Syria where she is well known for her leading roles in TV and Film (e.g., Haneen by Basel Alkhateeb, Rabe’y Bela Zouhour by Alaa Aldeen Koukach, Zaman Alhub wa Alharb by Ghassan Salman) and Theater Productions at the Damascus National Theater (e.g., title role in Zenobia by Calderon de La Barca, Helen in A Mid-Summer’s Night Dream by Shakespeare).

Nadia has a passion for illuminating the struggles of characters’ challenges through a comedic or serious lens and due to having grown up in a multi-cultural environment, she enjoys exploring cross cultural and social themes with the goal of provoking mutual understanding, building cultural bridges and tolerance between people from different nations. She continues to write and develop feature film and TV series projects that will challenge and entertain audiences, and loves the work in front of and behind the camera. Nadia speaks fluently English, Arabic, German and French.
